Heidi founded The Marigold School of Early Learning in 2014 after teaching in both private and public schools for many years.
Heidi designed the school to have a home-like feel, a calming effect, and a place where young children could have autonomy within developmentally appropriate boundaries.
Children are people just like adults are, and they deserve a learning space away from home to practice the skills they will need as they grow and enter K-12.
Socializing with other young children is not the same as simply being in a public space around other children.
Socializing for young children here at Marigold means your child will learn how to develop some of their first friendships.
Your child will engage in complex communication, learn problem-solving skills, and utilize higher brain functions as they engage in play.
As the teacher, Heidi’s job is to guide, facilitate, and mentor your child. They will always have support at every step of their learning journey, yet they will continue to have autonomy and her respect for their ability to learn how to build meaningful friendships through complex interactions.
Learning through play is the absolute best way for young minds to acquire knowledge, inquire, imagine, create, and discover.
Heidi Scott has a Master’s in Teaching, teaching preschool through eighth grade, and a Bachelor’s in Human Development with a Focus on Early Childhood Education.
Engages in professional development.
Educational background is in Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky’s Cognitive & Social Constructivist Theories, which ties in nicely with the Reggio Emilia Approach.
She is a teacher/ researcher and specializes in early childhood education.
She has been teaching for thirty years and counting.
She loves animals, especially cats.
She lives with her twin sister.
She is a lifelong learner.
